One is mild sunburn which causes redness, itching or skin irritation whereas, chronic sunburns are painful and can cause swelling, fever or skin peeling sometimes. 1.    Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera, which is also known as the burn plant is used to cure sunburns as its leaves contain anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps in reducing swelling and the skin irritation is reduced with the help of its jelly-like structure.

2.    Ice

The best and the oldest home remedy for curing sunburn is applying ice or an ice pack after wrapping it in a cloth. Applying cool things regularly for a couple of days helps in soothing the burnt area as well as reducing the itch.

3.    Coconut Oil

All-in-one oil, which is effective for curing a lot of problems, also helps in curing sunburn. It is known as the ‘healing oil’. It helps in repairing the cracks that come up on the skin due to chronic skin burn and recovers the peeled off the skin. It is one of the best home remedies for sunburn.

4.    Baking Soda

Baking soda can do wonders on sunburned skins due to its anti-inflammatory properties. All you have to do is put a cup of baking soda in your bathtub, wait for 20 minutes to let it mix with water. After 20 minutes, take a bath and pat yourself dry lightly. You can also make a paste of water and baking soda and apply it to the affected area.

5.    Sandalwood Paste

Sandalwood has forever been known for its curing properties. It soothes the burnt area and reduces itch. It also helps in softening that area and softens the skin to provide relief.  For best results, you must form a paste of sandalwood with chilled water and apply it on the affected area.

6.    Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid which is known for soothing irritation and inflammation caused by sunburn. Just spray apple cider vinegar to the affected area and let it work. If you have a highly sensitive skin, you can mix it with water.

7.    Yogurt

Using yogurt will give you quick sunburn relief. Take unflavoured, chilled yogurt and apply it on the burnt area. Keep it still for some time and then wash it off with cold water. It restores the pH value of the skin and which in turn helps in fast healing. It also helps in reducing premature aging and decolorisation caused by sunburn.

8.    Cucumber

The cooling properties of cucumber can help you cure your sunburn. Its antioxidant and analgesic properties heal, soothes and moisturises the inflamed area. Apply the mashed cucumber on the inflamed areas for quick sunburn relief.

9.    Potato

Potato has starch which absorbs excess heat from your skin. Peel a potato and apply it on the affected area. You can mash it or spray its juice as well. It is a very effective home remedy for sunburn.

10.    Black Tea bags

Black tea has tannic acid which restores the pH balance of the skin and absorbs excess heat. Put three tea bags in warm water and let it cool down. When the water comes to room temperature, dip a clean cloth and dab it on the affected area.
