Pores are normal openings in the skin through which oil and sweat reach on the surface. 1. Baking Soda

  • Mix the 2 tablespoons of baking soda with water to form a paste.
  • Apply the paste on your pores and move them in a circular motion for 30 seconds.
  • Wash off your face with normal water.
  • Doing this twice a week would be beneficial.

2. Papaya

Instructions to use

  • Cut a papaya into small pieces.
  • Mash these pieces to make a mask.
  • Apply the mask on your face for 20 minutes and then wash it with normal water.
  • Doing it every alternate day will help to purify skin deeply.

3. Aloe Vera

Since ancient times, aloe vera is famous for its astonishing skin health benefits. Moreover, wonderful astringent properties of this herb make it an excellent home remedy to get rid of pores. Aloe vera, as you know is easily available in the market and of course, the plant is not difficult to find.

Instructions to use

  • Extract the gel from aloe vera plant.
  • Firstly, clean your face and then apply aloe vera gel all over the face.
  • Let it for 5-10 minutes so that pores absorb the gel properly.
  • You can rinse with cool water after 5 minutes.
  • Applying every day would give good results.

4. Banana


    Banana peel has antioxidant lutein present in it which helps in healing and rejuvenating the skin. It also contains potassium which helps in smoothening the skin.

    Instructions to use

    • Apply inside of the banana peel on your face.
    • Don’t rub and let it for 10-15 minutes.
    • For best results do it 3- 4 times in a week.


    5. Lemon


    Lemon is a natural astringent which helps in skin tightening and unclogging the pores. The citric acid present in lemon juice helps in removing the impurities by breaking their chemical bond with the skin.     Instructions to use

    • Take a fresh lemon and cut into two parts and then squeeze the juice out of it.
    • Mix one teaspoon of honey in the lemon juice.
    • With the help of a cotton ball apply this mixture on the skin.
    • Leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing your face.
    • Do it on a daily basis for at least 25-30 days.


    6. Fuller’s Earth or Multani Mitti


    Use of Multani mitti is considered quite effective when it comes to minimizing the pores. This wonderful natural remedy absorbs extra oil from skin and exfoliates the skin as well.                                     

    Instructions to use

    • Mix 2 tablespoons of Multani mitti in 3-4 tablespoon of rose water.
    • Mix it well to make a paste.
    • Apply this paste on your entire face.
    • Let it dry for 30 minutes.
    • Rinse off face with normal water.
    • Repeat it once or twice in a week for desired results.


    7. Cucumber

    Cucumber has the natural astringent properties which help to reduce size of open pores in a natural way. Apart from this, it helps to lighten the skin complexion and ultimately gives radiant look.

    Instructions to use

    • Take a fresh cucumber and wash it properly.
    • Blend it to make the juice.
    • Strain the juice and add some lemon juice into it.
    • Dip a cotton ball and then dab it on all overall the face.
    • Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes.
    • Wash the face with normal cool water.



    Turmeric and honey are also two antibacterial and antimicrobial natural ingredients which can help in reducing the sizes of the pores. Multani mitti, yoghurt, olive oil, jojoba oil, egg white, and besan etc. are also equally effective ingredients. All of them are very effective natural ways to get rid of pores.  But here, we are listing some additional guidelines that would definitely help to promote overall skin health of individuals -  

    • Take a diet i.e. full of antioxidants, nutrients, fats, proteins, and carbohydrates
    • Stay hydrated, drink 8-10 glasses of water
    • Always remove your make up before going to bed
    • Use only non-comedogenic skin care products
